What do the activities entail?

The Association’s primary goal is to obtain and acquire vintage aircraft of historical aviation and aeronautical significance. To restore these aircraft as nearly possible to their original operational condition so as to preserve said archives for posterity. Thus allowing future generations to view and understand the liberations of the many generations of aeronautical design and exploration. Said restored archives are used for exhibition to educational groups such as grade schools, high schools and colleges. They are also available for display at aeronautical exhibitions and air shows accessible to the general public for their edification and appreciation.

 

Who conducts these activities?

All of the manpower needed for the restoration and exhibition of these historical archives are by volunteer pilots, mechanics, docents and educators who understand and appreciate the need for preserving this part of our American heritage. No one is paid for their services except those persons who are contracted for special skills like licensed Federal Aviation Agency certified mechanics.

 

Where is the activities conducted?

Restoration for aircraft under the control of the association are restored at local area airfields. Exhibits are schudled and conducted where requested such as air shows, aeronautical exhibits, schools, field days at the airport and upon request of aeronautical museums.

 

When is the activities conducted?

Restoration is an ongoing project conducted based on the part-time availability of those dedicated individuals spare time including the full time help of retired aviation professionals, former military personnel and any one interested in these restoration projects. Exhibitions activities are conducted based on requests generally set out on a yearly calendar basis and based on volunteer pilots and aircrew availability.

 

Who may participate in the activities?

The activities are open to any individual male or female expressing a desire to assist in restoration or operational activities. Volunteers must be at least eighteen years of age and undergo a brief introductory training period for safety and familiarity with the projects. No discrimination of any individual's perticipation may be based on race, color or creed.

 

How are the participants selected?

Participants generally contact the Association indicating their desire to help with certain projects. There is no membership fee for non-voting members who wish to participate as volunteers and are welcome.

 

Is there a fee for participation?

Voting Membership fees are set by the board and range from $100 upward a year. Membership fees can be waved at the board’s discursion based when aircraft are donated. Non-members are free to make financial contributions or material contributions to the organization.

 

How does the activities further your exempt purpose?

The organization functions under its obtained exempt status and is certification under 501(c)(3) of the U.S. IRS code for tax deductable statue. The organization seeks to obtain surplus aircraft from the military and to obtain donated aircraft from individuals wishing to see older aircraft preserved for posterity. All funds obtained from exhibits and by donation are rolled back into the Association for the sole purpose of maintaining and operating these restored aeronautical archives.
